On the hunt for an open source mind-mapping package I can install on my own – or someone else’s – servers.
Only now are we starting to get to a point where computing resources aren’t holding interfaces back anymore. With today’s devices, everything can be animated—and increasingly everything is. The problem is that the design process hasn’t caught up to this change in technology. For the most part, interfaces are still conceived as separate, static screens and then linked together with relatively crude animations.

As much as I work out loud online, I still can’t shake my pen and paper habit. This year I’ve taken a blank (well, grid) notebook and designed my own using features from notebooks I’ve used in the past.
The bottleneck for success often is not knowledge of the tools, but lack of understanding of the customer needs.
Think about how profoundly shameful it is that there even ever had to be a ‘civil rights movement’. There aren’t two ways to look at that. It may make you sad or disgusted or furious, but there is no question on which side justice resides.
